Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the DNAngels Training Center platform at training.dnangels.org (the "Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Platform. DNAngels is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

2. Account Registration

• You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
• You must provide accurate and complete registration information
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
• You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

3. Subscriptions and Payments

Plans

We offer several subscription plans including monthly, yearly, and individual course purchases. Current pricing and plan details are available on our Pricing page.

Free Trial

New users may be eligible for a free trial period. At the end of the trial, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid plan unless you cancel before the trial expires.

Billing

All payments are processed securely through Stripe. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period. You will be charged the applicable rate for your plan at each renewal.

Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your dashboard or by contacting us. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to paid content through the end of your current billing period. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis.

4. Course Content and Intellectual Property

All course content, videos, exercises, materials, and related intellectual property on the Platform are owned by DNAngels or its content creators and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

• You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and view course content for personal educational use
• You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, transmit, broadcast, display, sell, license, or otherwise exploit any content without prior written consent
• You may not record, download, or capture video content from the Platform
• Course materials may not be shared with non-subscribers

5. Digital Badges and Certificates

Badges and certificates earned through the Platform represent completion of specific courses or achievements. They follow the Open Badges standard and are verifiable. DNAngels reserves the right to revoke badges if they were obtained through fraudulent means or violation of these Terms.

6. User Conduct

You agree not to:

• Share your account credentials with others
• Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose
• Harass, abuse, or harm other users or staff
• Post offensive, defamatory, or inappropriate content in comments or community features
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Platform
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the Platform
• Interfere with the security or proper functioning of the Platform

7. Mentoring and Search Angel Services

DNAngels may offer mentoring and paid genealogy research (Search Angel) services. These services are provided on a best-effort basis. While our team has extensive experience (8,100+ cases), we cannot guarantee specific search outcomes. Results depend on many factors including available DNA data, records access, and biological family circumstances.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We are not responsible for the accuracy or reliability of any information obtained through the Platform.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, DNAngels shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of the Platform. Our total liability for any claims shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. Upon termination, your right to access the Platform ceases immediately. We may provide a pro-rated refund for unused subscription time at our discretion.

11. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes via email or a prominent notice on the Platform. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first, and if necessary, through binding arbitration.
